Destin with a group of 16: the beach, parking and getting around

A Destin beach week with 16 people is mostly about logistics. Get those right, and everyone else just shows up and enjoys the water. Here's what to know when you stay at Seas The Dream in The Villages of Crystal Beach.

Getting to the beach

Crystal Beach is about a 7-minute walk from the house, or you can ride the free trolley. Before you head out, raid the beach closet at the house: chairs, umbrellas, coolers and beach toys are all there, so you don't need to pack or rent them.

On days the group doesn't feel like the beach, the community's lagoon-style resort pool is steps from the front door, with waterfalls, a zero-entry side for little kids, a hot tub and a tiki bar.

Parking

• The driveway fits three cars. A couple of wheels on the mulch on each side helps all three fit.
• Overflow parking is around the pool and at the end of Kono Way, next to the mailboxes.
• No street parking, trailers, RVs, boats or jet skis. Those are community rules. Golf carts are fine.

If your group is driving in several cars, consider leaving one or two at home and sharing rides.

Groceries and supplies

Publix and Whole Foods are both less than half a mile away. Do one big shop on the first night, and assign each family a dinner to cook. The kitchen is fully stocked, and the dining area and breakfast bar seat the whole group.

• Henderson Beach State Park, about 5 minutes away, for a quieter stretch of beach.
• Destin Commons, about 5 minutes away, for shopping, movies and ice cream.
• Big Kahuna's water park, about 12 minutes away.
• HarborWalk Village, about 12 minutes away, for dinner on the harbor and fishing charters.

Good to know

Seas The Dream is a family rental. The person booking must be 25 or older, and the maximum of 16 guests, including children, is strictly enforced by the city and the community.

How many cars can park at Seas The Dream?

Three in the driveway, with overflow parking by the pool and at the end of Kono Way. The community doesn't allow street parking.

Can we bring a boat or trailer?

No. The community doesn't allow trailers, RVs, boats or jet skis. Golf carts are fine.
